It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Gulf Heart Association and Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention Shock Middle East meeting (GHA-SCAI Shock Middle East).  This meeting is the highlight of a collaboration between the GHA and SCAI, to create a high quality and educationally enriching scientific program, a core mission of both societies.

Cardiogenic shock unfortunately remains a deadly condition throughout the world and is associated with significant morbidity.  Cardiogenic shock care is also costly for health care systems and requires multi-disciplinary care.  Cardiogenic shock teams consistent of cardiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, vascular and cardiac surgeons, and highly trained nurses and support staff are required to facilitate the care of these complex patients.  Therefore, we have invited faculty from all the aforementioned disciplines to address this difficult to treat disease state. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend several specialized workshops dealing with all aspects of care in patients experiencing cardiogenic shock. Workshops will focus on hemodynamics, large bore access and closure, as well as the management of mechanical circulatory support devices such as IABP, Impella and ECMO.  We will also invite industry partners for a specialized symposia focused on updating attendees on technological advances made in cardiogenic shock care.

The meeting will take place in the vibrant city of Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Riyadh is easily accessible for attendees who will be able to enjoy the festivities of Riyadh.  We would like to thank all faculty who have accepted our invitation.  We would also like to welcome and thank the attendees who will contribute to the success of this event.
